Israeli forces burn down home, detain family's eldest son in Nablus raid

Nablus – Ma’an – Israeli soldiers set fire to a family home in Nablus’ Old City claiming it was a weapons storehouse, and detained the eldest son of the family in a 1:30am raid Thursday morning.

Ten Israeli military vehicles stormed the streets around the Al-Aghbar family’s home in the Old City, forcing the family onto the streets as they searched the ancient building. Claiming they found arms inside soldiers set fire to the building with the family looking on, and took 20-year-old Yahya Nidal Al-Aghbar into custody.

Soldiers also detained 19-year-old Sa’ed Hamdan from Nablus area during the raids.

Umm Yahya, the youth’s mother, said there were no arms in her home, and said soldiers used explosives to destroy her home.

IOF soldiers burn house in Nablus, round up 15 Palestinians

NABLUS, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation forces at dawn Thursday rounded up 15 Palestinians from various west Bank areas and started fire in one of the Palestinian homes in the Old City of Nablus. Local sources said that the IOF soldiers broke into the home of Aghbar family in the Old City and kidnapped their son. They added that the soldiers threw sonic bombs then incendiary bombs into the house completely burning it. The soldiers claimed they found a pistol in the home of another youth detained n Nablus but his family categorically denied the allegation. The Hebrew radio said that the soldiers arrested 15 "wanted" Palestinians in the districts of Nablus, Bethlehem and Al-Khalil, claiming that an explosive device was found in the house of one of them. In the Gaza Strip, a joint unit of the PFLP armed wing and Aqsa Martyrs Brigades (Ezzedin Al-Shamli group) fired at an IOF engineering corps east of Beit Hanun in northern Gaza on Wednesday.

Israel sentences PFLP leader to life for planning suicide attack

[Ma'anImages] Nablus – Ma’an – An Israeli court in Jerusalem sentenced the head of the militant wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) to life in prison on Sunday. Saed Abu Hnish, 29, was accused of planning a suicide attack at an illegal Israeli settlement in the West Bank that killed an Israeli woman and three of her children in 2002. The court also ordered the Palestinian, who served as the head of the PFLP's Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, to pay 60 million shekels in compensation to the Israeli family residing in the settlement of Itmar, near the city of Nablus. Hnish was sentenced to life at the Ramon prison in the Israeli town of Nafha. A spokesperson for defendant, who is from Beit Dajan in the northern West Bank, told Ma'an that Hnish holds a bachelor's in political science from An-Najah National University in Nablus. The attack on the settlement occurred on 20 June 2002, when a Palestinian entered the area and hid in one of the houses before clashing with Israeli troops and settlers, which lead to the deaths of four Israelis and the attacker. Hnish was also accused of participating in and planning other attacks against Israeli targets. Hnish had recently fled an assassination attempt that left him moderately injured. Israeli troops also demolished his three-floor home and arrested his two brothers, George, 19, and Foad, 22. Also, the occupation court ordered the Hnish family to pay 60 million shekels (about 15 Million USD) in compensation to the settlers of Itmar colony! Comrade Hnish was accused of participating and planning other attacks against Israeli occupation targets. Comrade Hnish had recently fled an Israeli assassination attempt that left him moderately injured. Israeli troops also demolished his three-floor home and arrested his two brothers, George, 19, and Foad, 22. Comrade Hnish holds a bachelor's degree in political science from An-Najah National University in Nablus. PFLP rejected the occupation sentence and considered the decision to be nothing but a mockery and illegal. PFLP called for the freedom of all Palestinian prisoners from Zionist Israeli jails.
