GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli authorities released a Palestinian prisoner on Sunday evening after he completed a 6-year sentence.
Salem Naseer Shawi from the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza was received at the Erez crossing on the northern Israel-Gaza border by several Hamas leaders and residents before being escorted to his home.
“Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails have patience and faith enough to help them challenge the tough conditions in detention,” Al-Maghazi said upon arrival.
Shawi called for an immediate end to rivalry between Hamas and Fatah.
