LONDON, (PIC)-- The head of the European campaign to release detained Palestinian MPs in Israeli jails Baroness Jennifer Tonge has asked British premier David Cameron to step in and demand reversal of the Israeli decision to deport Palestinian MPs from their hometown Jerusalem.
She said in a message to the premier that the Israeli detention and deportation of the Palestinian MPs was meant to punish them for winning legislative elections the integrity of which was witnessed by the entire world.
The MP expressed dismay at the British government for refusing to support democracy in Palestine despite its criticism of other countries for violating democracy.
Tonge described the Israeli deportation and other violations in Jerusalem as a model for "world hypocrisy".
She called for practical steps against the Israeli repeated violations of the Jerusalemite deputies, adding that Israel should be prosecuted for violation of the international law, UN resolutions, and the Geneva conventions.
