NABLUS, (PIC)-- Ra'fat Nassif, one of the leaders of Hamas held in Israeli prisons, said in a statement on Tuesday that he would agree to remain in jail if that would lead to releasing those who spent decades in prisons and those serving high sentences.

He described the new Israeli penal measures against Hamas prisoners as falling in line with political pressure and blackmail to conclude the prisoners' exchange deal without paying the required price.

For his part, Hamas MP Mushir Al-Masri told a cultural event on Monday evening in Gaza city that the Israeli captured soldier, Gilad Shalit, would never be freed before the release of the tabled list of Palestinian prisoners.

He also said that all attempts to exclude Hamas from the Palestinian political arena had failed, and advised the factions in Cairo not to bow to foreign pressure in order to ensure success of the national dialog.
