The Israeli Authorities released, on Wednesday, Sheikh Abdullah Yassin, the spokesperson of the Hamas movement in Tulkarem, in the northern part of the West Bank.
Yassin was imprisoned by Israel for three years, under administrative detention without charges or trial.
Dozens of Hamas supporters and members of the Palestinian Legislative Council in Tulkarem welcomed Yassin and congratulated him on his release.
Yassin was detained by the army in May of 2007 when the Israel forces took dozens of Hamas members and supporters in Tulkarem. He remained under administrative detention until he was released.
Sheikh Yassin said that he hopes all detainees imprisoned by Israel would be released, and called for unity among the Palestinians and their factions in order to counter the Israeli aggression and violations against the holy sites in Jerusalem, Hebron and Bethlehem.
