GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahhar, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, categorically denied Israeli reports claiming that he withdrew from the delegation responsible for handling the prisoner swap file.
Dr. Zahhar told the London-based Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper that the story of his resignation from this delegation because of alleged differences with political bureau head Khaled Mishaal and leader of Al-Qassam Brigades Mohamed Al-Jabari were fabricated as usual by Israel as part of its media war on the movement.
The Hamas official highlighted in another context that the decision of the Israeli premier to annex two mosques in the West Bank was intended for preserving his ruling coalition even if the price was to expose Israel’s security to danger.
He added that the decision also aimed to divert attention from the failure of the Mossad after the exposure of its operation in Dubai.
Speaking about the national reconciliation, the official ruled out the possibility of ending the inter-Palestinian division as long as Mahmoud Abbas is pressured by Israel and the US administration not to sign a reconciliation agreement with Hamas.
