MIAMI (Ma'an/Agencies) -- A Palestinian national was arrested in South Florida, accused of attempting to buy 300 stolen weapons, the Miami news channel WSVN reported Tuesday.
Abdalaziz Aziz Hamayel was arrested on 29 August at Miami International Airport as he returned from Jordan, the station reported.
The criminal complaint against Hamayel said he tried to buy 300 M16 rifles, 9mm handguns, Uzi submachine guns, silencers, grenades and remote detonation devices "for his people," the report said.
According to WSVN, the Palestinian man had "deep ties to the West Bank."
Police had been investigating Hamayel for over a year, WSVN said, but he had disappeared.
