GAZA, (PIC)-- Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haneyya has said that the resistance factions who have captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit will not fail the families of Palestinians held in Israel prisons. ”We are at the pinnacle. We must continue with our demands, certain that the resistance will not fail us,” Haneyya said during a special session held by the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) at ministerial headquarters in Gaza on Saturday. He confirmed that the government in Gaza continues to support conditions set by the Shalit's captors. The Palestinian premier also confirmed that strong interaction has begun between the Arabs and Muslims and international forces to help free Palestinians jailed in Israeli prisons. ”Despite the pain suffered by us and the families of the prisoners, the future prospects are promising,” he said, adding that he was confident that the changes will have an important impact on the Palestinian POW's cause. Haneyya called on the Palestinians to ”embrace” the step declared by prisoners to go on hunger strike, saying the prisoners would have never announced a strike if not for the severe conditions and suffering happening in the prisons. Deputy speaker of the PLC Dr. Ahmed Bahar, who also spoke at the session, emphasized the need to capture more Israeli soldiers to be used in swap deals that could help release Palestinians in Israeli jails. |
