LONDON, (PIC)-- The Arab organization for human rights based in Britain on Monday called on all Arab, Muslim and western parliaments to urgently intervene to get Palestinian lawmakers in Israeli jails released, saying they represent the conscience of humanity. The organization affirmed in a letter addressed to the international campaign for the release of lawmakers from Israeli jails that the ongoing detention of representatives of the Palestinian legitimacy is an intolerable crime and a serious violation against international humanitarian law. For its part, the international campaign for the release of lawmakers deplored in a statement the Israeli occupation for procrastinating the release of Palestinian MPs from its jails, asserting that such behavior reveals to the world once again the ugly image of Israel and its constant violations against democracy and human rights. The campaign said that Israel refused to release MPs Azzam Salhab and Nizar Ramadan after they completed their imprisonment term and renewed their administrative detention for seven more months. It emphasized that the trial and detention of Palestinian lawmakers are illegal and void, warning that such practices would have serious repercussions on the global system of human values and the free democratic work. It also demanded the world to shoulder its responsibilities and put an end to Israel’s restrictions on Palestinian democracy as evident in its persistence in detaining Palestinian lawmakers without legal justification. |
