GAZA, (PIC)-- Ahmed Shukri, a Palestinian prisoner in Israeli occupation authority (IOA) jails, has entered his 21st year in captivity all served in solitary confinement, Abdul Nasser Farwana, a specialist in Palestinian prisoners' affairs, said on Wednesday. Farwana, himself a former prisoner in IOA jails, said in a press release that Shukri, a resident of Ramallah, was arrested on 9/9/1989 and was sentenced to life imprisonment in addition to 32 years. During two decades of Shukri's detention he was not moved from one ward to another similar to other prisoners but rather he was moved from one isolation cell to another, the researcher underlined, affirming that Shukri up to this date was still being held in solitary confinement. He appealed to the human rights groups to shed light on the suffering of Palestinians thrown in isolation especially those held for long periods in those isolation cells. |
