Ramallah – Ma'an – Dozens of Palestinian families demanded to visit their relatives in Israeli jails during a demonstration outside Israel’s Ofer prison compound near the West Bank city of Ramallah on Monday.Amin Shoman, Chairman of the High Committee on Palestinian prisoners’ affairs said that that the group plans to hold a demonstration at the prison each Monday. Shoman said the protest was indented to “send a message” that Palestinians are suffering inside Israeli prisons.Demonstrators also demanded the release of all Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons.Recently, Israeli forces have conducted arrest and intimidation campaigns on villages that resist Israeli "apartheid infrastructure," the campaign said. Israeli forces have arrested 176 Palestinians from five villages alone over their resistance to construction of the wall, human rights organization Addameer and Stop the Wall said. An estimated 11,000 Palestinian political prisoners are currently being held in Israeli jails.Although Palestinians are ordinarily barred from entering the compound, Ofer prison houses only Palestinian detainees.
