Talks remain at an impasse as Israel and Hamas have failed to negotiate the release of hundreds of Israel's estimated 10,000 Palestinian detainees in exchange for an Israeli soldier captured in a 2006 cross-border raid.
Hamas recently rejected an offer put forward by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that would grant the release of certain "high-value" Palestinian prisoners only on condition they be exiled to Gaza or abroad.
