CAIRO, (PIC)-- The Egyptian Seventh Day newspaper on Sunday revealed that Fatah-affiliated officials in the Embassy of Palestine in Cairo were behind the arrest of chief of police patrols in Khan Younis Ibrahim Ma’rouf upon his return along with his ill father from a medical treatment trip. It said that those officials told the Egyptian authorities that Ma’rouf is an officer affiliated with Hamas, which led to his arrest when he attempted to travel back to Gaza after he escorted his elderly father during his medical treatment trip in Cairo hospitals. The newspaper said that Ma’rouf entered Egypt along with his father as an ordinary Palestinian citizen and the Egyptian security apparatuses did not know the nature of his job when he was allowed in. The newspaper added that Egyptian officers are still interrogating the Hamas-affiliated official who will be transferred to Cairo to complete the investigation. |
