JENIN (Ma’an) -- An Israeli military court decided Friday to release former Palestinian minister of prisoners affairs Wasfi Qabaha due to his deteriorating health condition, the Ahrar Center for Prisoner Studies reported after the final hearing.
Director of the center Fuad Al-Khafsh said the judge made the decision following a review of Qabaha's medical files detailing the worsening of his diabetes. He was detained one week earlier, on 10 December, and had yet to be charged.
Qabaha has served seven years in Israeli prisons. He was last released on 21 April 2010, after serving three years of Administrative Detention, without being charged, after his detention on 23 May 2007.
