Ofer court holds appeal hearing over administrative detention of MP Ramhi

WEST BANK, (PIC)-- The Israeli court of Ofer military camp held a hearing to listen to the appeal filed by Palestinian lawmaker Mahmoud Al-Ramhi against a previous decision to detain him administratively for six months. The lawyer of MP Ramhi said he lodged an appeal on behalf of his client after an Israeli military judge decided two months ago to keep the administrative imprisonment term issued earlier against the lawmaker by the Israeli army. According to the lawyer, the Israeli military commandership justified the administrative detention of Ramhi by saying that he is a Hamas activist and leader who is involved in activities posing a threat to the security of Israel and the region. The lawyer rejected these Israeli claims, affirming that MP Ramhi is a noted popular figure and his political activities cannot be used legally to justify his arbitrary detention. In a separate incident, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed and ransacked at dawn Wednesday a number of Palestinian homes in the cities of Tulkarem, Jenin and Ramallah and kidnapped seven Palestinians during the raids, according to the Hebrew radio.
