Ahmad Ismail Samara, of Ramallah, had been sentenced to a 21.5-year sentence in jail for a variety of offenses, including illegal residency in Israel, indecent acts, robbery and assault. He had been in prison since 1989.
The Israeli Prison Service has reportedly launched an investigation into the man's death.
