Negev prisoners appeal for medical treatment

[ 07/06/2009 - 03:13 PM ]

NAZARETH, (PIC)-- Palestinian prisoners held in the notorious Israeli desert prison of Negev have appealed to legal institutions to expedite intervention in the case of 150 sick prisoners.

The prisoners said in a leaked message on Sunday that the prison authority was completely ignoring the suffering of the sick prisoners and was delaying their treatment, which threatens deterioration in their conditions.

They underlined that a number of those prisoners were in need of surgeries and were suffering acute pain round the clock as a result of the prison authority's delay of their surgical operations.

The prisoners, who number 2,320 in this jail, warned that those prisoners' lives were in danger, adding that internal transfer of those prisoners are made without any consideration of those prisoners' health conditions.
