RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Israeli military court in Ofer has adjourned sentencing Dr. Aziz Dwaik, the speaker of the Palestinian legislative council, for the second time until Monday, lawyer Fadi Al-Qawasme said. Well informed sources said on Sunday that the verdict was expected one of two either releasing Dwaik until the court of appeals hearing, which the court would specify later on, or extending his sentence until end of his tenure similar to what happened to other detained Palestinians MPs. Dwaik appeared at the court of appeals on Sunday at the request of the Israeli military prosecution one week before his scheduled release at end of his sentence. Hamas lawmakers in the West Bank said in a statement that the Israeli step was meant to continue paralyzing the PLC. |
