GAZA, (PIC)-- The Wa'ed society catering for the affairs of detainees and ex-detainees on Monday denounced the Israeli higher court's ruling turning down a request to release Dr. Majeda Fidda.

The society in a statement said that the verdict fell in line with the Israeli policy of tightening the noose on Hamas prisoners.

It asked Arab and international legal societies to seriously act in support of the Palestinian prisoners.

The society said that Fidda has been held in Hasharon jail under administrative detention for more than a year.

The Israeli occupation authority detained Fidda on 8/6/2008 and was under interrogation for five months before being held in administrative custody for three months starting first of January 2009 then her detention was renewed for another three months in April.

The Israeli occupation forces on Monday launched search campaigns in a number of West Bank cities and villages that ended with arresting nine Palestinians in Jenin, Ramallah and Nablus districts.

The Israeli radio claimed that IOF soldiers found a shotgun and ammunition in the possession of the one of the detainees in Nablus.
